Over the past two weeks there have been a number of times when the Blackboard service has been unavailable to students and staff for an extended period of time. When this problem occurs, your web browser will not load any Blackboard page and eventually will tell you that the page or server cannot be found. This appears to be a problem with the Blackboard application and we are working with Blackboard to investigate the cause of the problem and find a resolution as soon as possible.
We have enabled a monitoring service that will automatically detect and remedy the problem if it does occur. This should eliminate any extended periods of service unavailability while we resolve the technical issue.
If at any time you are unable to access the Blackboard service then please report this to the IT service desk through the usual channels (https://servicedesk.cranfield.ac.uk/, email@example.com, +44 (0)1234 75 4199). If you are having a problem outside of standard support hours then please still report this to the IT service desk. Please then try again after a short while - we should have automatically detected the issue and the service should be available again within a few minutes (up to 30 minutes maximum).
